Bringing Your Dog From Canada to the US
Microchip, 6 months old, and the CDC import form.
Canada is a dog-rabies-free / low-risk country, so bringing a dog south into the United States is relatively simple under the CDC rules updated in 2024 and 2025 โ but there are still firm requirements. A dog that has only been in Canada (or other low-risk countries) in the past 6 months doesn't need a US rabies vaccination, but it must be microchipped, at least 6 months old, appear healthy, and travel with a CDC Dog Import Form receipt.
